Personal accounts tell the stories of Irish migrants

This new project relies heavily on eyewitness testimonies and personal accounts — including never before published personal diaries — to explore the experience of the immigrants who fled Ireland during the Great Hunger of 1847. With The Irish Famine Migrant Stories in Ontario, the Canada Ireland Foundation shares the stories of migrants and their descendants, and pays tribute to those who cared for them.
