Irish Famine Migrant Stories in Ontario

Canada Ireland Foundation 2021

The Irish Famine Migrant Stories in Ontario project explores one of Canada’s first public health and refugee crises, when desperate and often disease-stricken immigrants fled Ireland during the Great Hunger of 1847. Through eyewitness testimonies and personal accounts, the Canada Ireland Foundation shares the stories of migrants and their descendants, and pays tribute to those who cared for them.
