Our Black Heritage tells the dynamic story of York-Sunbury early Black settlers, from 1783 to the present, who have struggled against servitude and oppression. Through objects, archival documents, personal stories, and photographs, this virtual exhibition explores the historical roots of oppression and the ways citizens of African descent have responded with determination and perseverance. It has been a long journey of mixed feelings and emotions. It is a story of hope denied and hope restored. These are their stories.
